Materials:
Cut two 4" x 6" pieces of colored construction paper (for A and B).
Cut one 7" x 4-1/8" piece (C) and two 7" x 3/4" strips (for D and E) of white or colored copy paper (from an 8-1/2" x 11" sheet).
Note: A and B should be the same color.
Directions:
Step 1: Take one of the 4" x 6" construction paper pieces (A). Position the two 7" x 3/4" strips according to Step 1 above. Glue down about 1-1/2" of each strip.
Step 2: Leave a slight space between and position the second piece of 4" x 6" construction paper (B) below paper (A).
Step 3: Fold ends of strips up and glue down.
Step 4: Turn both cards over. The 'inside' should look like Step 4 above.
Step 5: Slip the 7" x 4-1/8" piece (C) into the center of (A) and (B) so that about 1-1/2" is left overlapping at the bottom.
Step 6: Carefully turn over and glue section (C) to (B).
Step 7: Fold down the overhang section of (C) and glue to (A). This is what the finished 'outside' of the toy should look like.
Step 8: Turn over to see what the finished 'inside' of the toy should look like.
To Operate the Toy
Place an object inside pocket A (i.e. glue, scissors, etc.). Close the book and rub in a circular motion 3 times, saying "abra-cadabra-move". Open on the opposite side that the book closed on, and the object will "appear" to have moved! You have created a double-hinged object!
